The WIDIA 3607531 is a carbide threading insert in the NTF series, designed for cutting both internal and external UN-standard threads on CNC lathes and threading machines. The insert carries a TN6010 grade designation and a PVD-applied TiAlN finish, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during threading operations. It handles external pitch ranges from 0.60 to 2.5 and internal pitch ranges from 1.0 to 2.5, making it suitable for a wide range of common UN thread forms. The insert weighs approximately 0.021 pounds and is held in place using a clamp-style toolholder. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.
This threading insert is suited for UN-thread applications on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in both internal and external threading operations. It is used in production turning setups where consistent thread geometry and tool life are required. The NTF series and Size 3 designation match it to compatible NTF-style toolholders. Right-hand cutting orientation applies. The 60-degree included angle conforms to standard UN thread form geometry. Typical applications include threading on steel, stainless, and similar materials in close-tolerance work.
Designed for use in NTF-series clamp-style threading toolholders accepting a Size 3 insert with ANSI and ISO code NTF3R. Verify toolholder compatibility against the NTF3R designation before installation.
Threading insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before installation. Do not exceed the feed and speed parameters published in the toolholder or insert manufacturer documentation.
