The WIDIA 3607069 is a Top Notch grooving insert designed for external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and WIDIA manufacturer grade TN6025, this insert delivers consistent performance on demanding workpiece materials. It features a 0.094 inch (3/32 inch) cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.150 inches, and a positive rake geometry with an NG-K chip breaker. Right-hand orientation and clamp-style holding make it a direct fit for compatible Top Notch toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for grooving and turning applications across a range of workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and non-ferrous metals. The NG-K series is a common choice for precise groove-width control in medium to light cuts on both production runs and prototype work. The single-end, two-cutting-edge design supports controlled chip evacuation through the K-style chip breaker geometry, reducing the risk of chip packing in tight groove profiles.
Designed for use with Top Notch grooving and turning toolholders that accept NG-series insert size 3 (insert seat size 3). For use in grooving and turning operations. Refer to WIDIA Top Notch toolholder documentation to confirm seat compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and all power isolated. Use the correct clamp screw and torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification documented in the toolholder manual. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.150 inches to avoid insert fracture or toolholder damage.
