The WIDIA 2870200 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill in the Series 4V05 lineup, engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built with a 0.1875 inch cutting diameter, a 0.3125 inch length of cut, and a 1.5 inch overall length, this end mill is designed for precision work in tight tolerances. The 38-degree helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiAlN-LT coating improves thermal resistance and extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production environments, and tool rooms will find this a reliable drop-in cutting tool.
The 2870200 is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering a broad range of common workpiece types encountered in general machining and aerospace or die-and-mold applications. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1875 inch diameter fits standard ER collets and end mill holders. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional spindle configurations found on most vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is centercutting, allowing plunge operations where the application requires.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and ER collet chucks accepting a 0.1875 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per WIDIA Series 4V05 application data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet or holder runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates wear and reduces surface finish quality. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut being applied.
