The WIDIA 2824251 is a TPCB-style carbide boring insert engineered for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual boring equipment. Coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, the CG5 micrograin carbide substrate delivers consistent edge integrity across high-volume production runs. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral cutting direction, providing three usable cutting edges per insert. At 0.25 inches inscribed circle and 0.0938 inches thick, this insert fits standard TPCB-style toolholders and is secured by screw clamping for rigid, repeatable positioning. A 0.002-inch corner radius and 11-degree relief angle support fine-finish boring passes on a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for boring operations in residential shop, job-shop, and industrial machining environments. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and N. The positive rake geometry and integrated chipbreaker promote chip control during internal diameter boring, making this insert appropriate for production-volume boring of through-holes and blind bores at moderate depths of cut up to 0.2858 inches.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for TPCB-style screw-on boring insert seats. ANSI code TPHB215X0; ISO code TPHB1102X0. Compatible with toolholders designed for 0.25-inch inscribed circle triangular boring inserts with a 0.1300-inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert flush against the toolholder pocket faces and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge location and runout control.
