The WESTINGHOUSE 632546R is a two-stage furnace pressure switch rated at 1.0 and 0.60 inches water column (WC). Pressure switches monitor the negative pressure generated by the inducer motor during furnace operation. When the inducer establishes proper draft, the switch closes and signals the control board to allow ignition to proceed. On a two-stage furnace, the 632546R monitors both first-stage and second-stage draft conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians install this component as an OEM-style replacement during routine maintenance or in response to a pressure switch fault code.
The 632546R is designed for use on PGC2 2-stage condensing and non-condensing gas furnaces. Two-stage furnaces are common in residential applications where variable heat output improves comfort and efficiency. The pressure switch is a safety control: if adequate draft is not confirmed at either stage, the switch remains open and prevents ignition, protecting against incomplete combustion and flue gas spillage. Replacement is typically required when the switch fails to close under normal operating conditions or shows out-of-range actuation during testing.
Designed for use with the PGC2 2-Stage Condensing and Non-Condensing Furnace as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the furnace manufacturer service instructions. Disconnect power to the furnace at the disconnect switch or breaker before removing the existing pressure switch. Verify the replacement switch set-points match the original before reconnecting hose ports and electrical terminals. Inspect the rubber tubing connected to the pressure port for cracks or blockage, as tubing condition directly affects switch performance.
