Western Digital WD141PURP 14TB Purple Pro Hard Drive

Product Description

The WESTERN DIGITAL WD141PURP is a 14TB Purple Pro series hard disk drive engineered for always-on surveillance and security applications. Built to handle the continuous read and write demands of high-channel IP camera systems, this drive is designed for installation in network video recorders (NVRs), digital video recorders (DVRs), and dedicated surveillance storage appliances. The 14TB capacity makes it well-suited for large-scale deployments where extended retention periods and simultaneous multi-stream recording are required. IT professionals, security system integrators, and AV technicians are the primary installers of this drive.

This drive is intended for use in professional surveillance environments, including commercial security installations, retail monitoring systems, municipal camera networks, and large residential security setups. It is optimized for systems that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and supports high stream counts typical of modern IP-based camera infrastructures. The WD141PURP fits into standard 3.5-inch drive bays found in most NVR and DVR enclosures designed for surveillance-grade storage.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified IT technician or security system integrator familiar with storage hardware. Power down the host system completely before removing or installing any internal drive. Secure the drive with the enclosure-specified mounting hardware and ensure proper airflow within the chassis to maintain safe operating temperatures. Always back up existing data and verify NVR or DVR firmware compatibility before deploying a new high-capacity drive.
