The WELDERS CHOICE 59804039 is an E7018 low-hydrogen stick welding electrode designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) on a wide range of steel applications. The electrode measures 5/32 inch in diameter and 14 inches in length, with an operating amperage range of 105 to 155 amps on AC polarity. The E7018 classification indicates a low-hydrogen, iron-powder flux coating that produces a stable arc, low spatter, and a smooth weld bead. This electrode is suited for structural, heavy fabrication, and maintenance welding work performed by certified welders and experienced fabricators.
This electrode is used across residential, commercial, and industrial welding applications. It performs on low-carbon, medium-carbon, and high-carbon steels as well as low-alloy structural steel. Typical install scenarios include steel structure fabrication, offshore rig construction, power plant maintenance, and tack welds for tubular wire applications. The amperage range of 105 to 155 amps makes it a practical choice for both shop and field work where AC power sources are available.
Designed for use on low-carbon, medium-carbon, and high-carbon steels, low-alloy structural steels, offshore rig fabrication, power plant construction, steel structures, and tack welds for tubular wire applications.
Installation and use of stick welding electrodes should be performed by a qualified welder following applicable AWS and workplace safety standards. Before striking an arc, verify the power source is set to the correct polarity and amperage range for the electrode diameter. Store E7018 low-hydrogen electrodes in a dry rod oven or sealed container to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause hydrogen-induced cracking. Always wear appropriate PPE including a properly rated welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
