The WELDERS CHOICE 59804021 is an E7018 low-hydrogen stick welding electrode designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) of low, medium, and high-carbon steels as well as low-alloy structural steel. The electrode measures 3/32 inches in diameter and 14 inches in length. It operates on AC welding polarity with a recommended amperage range of 105 to 155 amps. The E7018 classification indicates an iron powder, low-hydrogen flux coating that produces a smooth, stable arc and a clean weld bead with low spatter. Licensed welders and certified welding contractors working on structural, industrial, and offshore projects are the primary installers of this electrode.
This electrode is suited for structural steel fabrication, offshore rig construction, power plant maintenance, and general tack welding for tubular wire applications. Its composition and flux coating make it appropriate for both shop and field use on carbon and low-alloy steel base metals. The E7018 designation is widely specified in structural welding procedures governed by AWS D1.1 and similar codes, making it a standard selection for code-compliant work on steel structures.
Designed for use on low, medium, and high-carbon steels; low-alloy structural steels; offshore rig and power plant components; general steel structures; and as tack welds for tubular wire applications.
Installation and use of this electrode should be performed by a qualified or certified welder following applicable AWS or project-specific welding procedure specifications. Store E7018 low-hydrogen electrodes in a sealed container or rod oven to prevent moisture absorption in the flux coating, as moisture pickup is a known cause of porosity and hydrogen cracking. Set the welding machine to the appropriate AC amperage within the specified 105 to 155 amp range based on joint configuration and base metal thickness. Follow all applicable safety codes and personal protective equipment requirements for arc welding operations.
