The WELDERS CHOICE 59802108 is a low fuming bronze brazing alloy rod used to join ferrous and non-ferrous base metals in high-heat applications. Meeting industry specification RBCuZn-C, it is engineered for good ductility and high tensile strength, making it suitable for demanding structural and mechanical joints. At 1/8 inch in diameter and 36 inches in length, each rod delivers consistent filler deposition. HVAC technicians, plumbers, and pipefitters use this alloy when brazing copper, brass, bronze, cast iron, and steel assemblies where a strong, low-fuming filler is required.
This brazing rod is used across residential and commercial applications including refrigeration piping, plumbing systems, HVAC equipment fabrication, and general metalwork. The low fuming characteristic reduces harmful zinc oxide emissions during the brazing process, making it a practical choice in shop and field environments with limited ventilation. Its low melting point relative to other bronze alloys allows for easier control of the heat zone, reducing the risk of base metal distortion during joining operations.
Designed for brazing copper, brass, bronze, cast iron, and steel base metals. Suitable for use with standard oxy-acetylene and oxy-fuel torch setups in HVAC, plumbing, and general metalworking applications.
Brazing with this alloy should be performed by a qualified welder, HVAC technician, or plumber following applicable codes such as ASME B31.5 for refrigeration piping or local mechanical codes. Ensure adequate ventilation or respiratory protection before beginning work, as brazing zinc-bearing alloys produces fumes even in low-fuming formulations. Clean all base metal surfaces thoroughly and apply an appropriate flux before heating to ensure proper wetting and bond integrity. Allow the joint to cool naturally and remove flux residue after the braze is complete.
