The WELDAS 50-2472 is a heavy-duty fiberglass welding blanket supplied as a continuous roll measuring 72 inches wide by 50 yards long. Constructed from 24 oz fiberglass fabric weighing approximately 800 grams per square meter, it features a neoprene coating on both sides finished in black. The blanket is rated to withstand temperatures up to 550 degrees C, making it suitable for demanding welding, cutting, and heat containment applications. Welding professionals and fabricators use it to protect personnel, equipment, and surrounding structures from weld spatter, sparks, and radiant heat.
This roll format is intended for job sites or shops that require custom-cut lengths to fit specific work areas or fixtures. Because it is supplied as a roll rather than a finished blanket, the edges are not lock-stitched and no grommets are installed. Trades commonly using this product include structural welders, pipefitters, shipyard workers, and industrial maintenance technicians who need flexible, on-demand coverage in high-heat environments. The black neoprene coating provides additional abrasion resistance and helps contain fine glass fibers at the cut edges.
Designed as a general-purpose fiberglass welding blanket roll for use in MIG, TIG, stick, and oxy-fuel welding and cutting operations requiring spatter and radiant heat protection.
Cut to length using aviation snips or heavy-duty scissors rated for fiberglass material; wear gloves and eye protection when cutting to avoid fiber contact. Secure draped sections with welding clamps or heat-rated fasteners to prevent displacement during active welding operations. Inspect cut sections before each use and remove any blanket that shows burn-through, fraying, or significant fiber loss. This product does not replace fire watch procedures required by NFPA 51B for hot work in occupied or combustible environments.
