The WELDAS 33-6228XL is an extra-large welding spatter guard apron built from FR-7A flame retardant cotton sateen fabric. The open back design promotes airflow and reduces heat buildup during extended welding sessions, making it a practical choice for fabricators and welders working in high-heat environments. The FR-7A cotton sateen material meets Federal Test Method 191.5903 and retains its flame retardancy for up to 50 normal home washings or 25 commercial laundry cycles, giving it reliable service life with standard care. Bibs are sold separately and are not included with this apron.
The 33-6228XL is suited for MIG, TIG, and stick welding applications in both shop and field settings. The spatter guard design protects the lower torso and legs from weld spatter, slag, and spark exposure. It is commonly used in metal fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, and industrial maintenance environments where prolonged arc welding work is performed. The extra-large sizing accommodates a wider range of body types for a more comfortable, unrestricted fit during active work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use welding spatter guard for workers requiring flame retardant lower-body protection in arc welding and related hot-work applications.
Welding protective apparel should be inspected before each use for burns, tears, or damage that may compromise protection. Follow the manufacturer care instructions to preserve FR properties and do not use bleach or fabric softeners, as these can degrade flame retardancy. This garment is worn personal protective equipment and does not require mechanical installation; confirm proper sizing before use to ensure adequate coverage. Consult applicable OSHA and ANSI Z49.1 welding safety standards for PPE requirements at your worksite.
