The WEILER 94646 is a knotted wheel brush designed for aggressive surface preparation, weld cleaning, and rust or scale removal on metal workpieces. The brush features an 8-inch outside diameter and a 5/8-inch arbor hole mount, making it compatible with standard bench grinders and angle grinders equipped with an arbor adapter. Carbon steel knotted wire at a filament diameter in the 0.0100 to 0.0199 inch range delivers the high-impact cutting action required for heavy deburring and surface conditioning tasks. The maximum rated speed is 6,000 RPM. At 2.25 pounds, this is a substantial tool suited for fabrication shops, welding operations, and maintenance environments.
This wheel brush is used in metal fabrication, structural steel work, pipeline welding prep, and general maintenance applications where surface contamination, mill scale, rust, or weld spatter must be removed efficiently. The knotted wire configuration produces more aggressive material removal compared to crimped wire, making it the preferred choice for heavy-scale work. It is typically installed on a bench grinder or mounted via an arbor hole adapter to a compatible right-angle grinder. No shank is included with this brush.
Designed for use with bench grinders and arbor-mount angle grinder setups accepting a 5/8-inch arbor hole attachment. Verify that the grinder's rated no-load RPM does not exceed 6,000 RPM before mounting this brush.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive and power brush safety standards, including ANSI B165.1 guidelines for wire wheel brushes. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing the brush. Confirm the spindle arbor diameter matches the 5/8-inch hole and that all flanges and hardware are properly seated and torqued per the grinder manufacturer's instructions. Eye protection, face shield, and appropriate PPE are required during operation.
