The WEILER 50833 is a 7-inch Type 27 flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel. Part of the Big Cat series, it uses 40-grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a cloth backing with a phenolic backing plate for rigidity and heat resistance. The threaded 5/8-11 arbor hole mounts directly to standard angle grinders. Rated at 8,600 RPM maximum, this disc delivers consistent coarse-grade cutting action across flat and contoured surfaces. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians reach for this disc when they need fast stock removal without multiple tool changes.
The WEILER 50833 is built for weld removal and surface preparation on fabricated steel and stainless steel workpieces. The Type 27 flat profile keeps the disc face at a low angle to the workpiece, making it well suited for flush grinding of weld beads and mill scale removal on flat plate and structural shapes. It is commonly used in fabrication shops, ironworking, and maintenance environments where a single disc needs to handle both heavy grinding and blending passes.
Designed for use on angle grinders with a 7-inch capacity and a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Rated for grinding steel and stainless steel. Not intended for use on aluminum, wood, or masonry without confirming abrasive suitability.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Thread the 5/8-11 arbor onto the grinder spindle and tighten with the appropriate spanner wrench per the grinder manufacturer's instructions. Always verify the grinder's no-load RPM does not exceed the 8,600 RPM disc rating before operation. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and replace if any flaps are torn or the backing plate is cracked.
