The WATTS 88005793 is a 1/2 inch bronze combination fill valve and backflow preventer designed for hydronic heating systems in both commercial and residential applications. This pre-assembled unit integrates a bronze backflow preventer (model 9D) and a bronze feed water pressure regulator (model BD1156F) into a single assembly. It supplies make-up water to the boiler while preventing backflow when supply pressure drops below system pressure. The inlet connection is a 1/2 inch union Viega ProPress fitting and the outlet is NPT threaded. Maximum working pressure is 100 psi and maximum temperature is 212 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and hydronic heating technicians are the typical installers of this assembly.
This unit is built for boiler feed lines in hydronic heating systems. The high-capacity fill valve design supports quick system filling and purging, reducing commissioning time during initial startup or after system service. The ProPress x NPT connection configuration suits installations where press-fit tooling is already in use on the supply side and threaded connections are required on the system side. It is applicable to both light commercial boiler systems and residential hot water heating setups.
Designed for use in the boiler feed lines of commercial and residential hydronic heating systems with 1/2 inch ProPress x NPT connection configurations. Compatible with Viega ProPress press-fit tooling on the inlet side.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified hydronic heating technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before beginning work. The ProPress inlet requires the appropriate Viega press-fit tool and jaw set — do not attempt to solder or thread this connection. Verify system pressure does not exceed the 100 psi maximum rating before returning the system to service.
