The WATTS 0061982 is a hose connection vacuum breaker designed to prevent backflow and back-siphonage at hose bibs and similar outdoor water supply points. The body is constructed from lead-free brass with an EPDM seal and a stainless steel spring for durable, corrosion-resistant performance. It is rated to 125 psi maximum working pressure. Licensed plumbers and irrigation technicians install this device as a code-required backflow prevention measure on potable water systems. It connects via FIP inlet to hose end outlet, making it a straightforward inline installation at the point of use.
This vacuum breaker is suited for residential and light commercial applications where a hose connection is made to a potable water supply line. Typical installations include hose bibbs, utility faucets, and irrigation supply points. It is used wherever local plumbing codes require atmospheric vacuum breaker protection against contamination from hose-end backflow or siphonage events. The FIP x Hose End connection configuration fits standard threaded hose bibb outlets.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation vacuum breaker for standard hose bibb and threaded hose-end supply connections requiring ANSI A112.1.3 and ASSE-compliant backflow protection.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC backflow prevention requirements. Shut off the water supply to the hose bibb before installing or replacing this device. Do not install the vacuum breaker in a continuously submerged or inverted orientation, as atmospheric vacuum breakers require an air inlet to function correctly. Use appropriate thread sealant on FIP connections and verify there are no leaks before returning the supply to service.
