The WALTER-TITEX 6618636 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial applications. Built to Series DC150-08-A1, it features a 4.70 mm (0.1850 inch) diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle optimized for self-centering entry, and a TiNAl coating that resists heat and extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The straight cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 85.00 mm (3.346 inches). This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations where accuracy and tool longevity are critical.
This drill bit is engineered for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. It supports blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications, making it a versatile choice for aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking environments. The coolant-through design allows cutting fluid to be delivered directly to the cutting edge, enabling higher feed rates and longer tool life in deep-hole and high-cycle production scenarios. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in deeper cuts up to 37.00 mm (1.457 inches).
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with standard collet or chuck tooling accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, steel, superalloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly clamped in the tool holder before operation, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading from loose setups. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are set per the manufacturers recommended parameters for the target material before engaging the cut. Enable coolant-through flow before drilling begins to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
