The WALTER-TITEX 6618354 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding industrial and trade applications. It features a 140-degree split point, a TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance, and a spiral flute geometry rated at 5xD depth capacity. The cutting diameter is 0.2970 inches with a whistle notch shank diameter of 0.3150 inches. Overall length is 3.5827 inches. The right-hand spiral flute and proprietary point geometry make this drill well suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality matter. It ships individually and is part of the DC150 series.
This drill is engineered for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. It supports both blind hole and stack drilling applications. The coolant-through design allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting edge, helping manage chip evacuation and thermal load when drilling difficult materials. It is used in CNC machining centers, production drilling fixtures, and manual drill presses where close-tolerance holes are required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio allows drilling depths up to 1.4850 inches in a single pass without a peck cycle in most setups.
Designed for use in toolholders and chucks accepting a 0.3150-inch whistle notch shank. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the WALTER-TITEX DC150 series. Drill bit size falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 decimal inch range per series specification.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the whistle notch shank. Carbide drill bits are brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, misalignment, or interrupted cuts without confirming the workpiece is properly fixtured. When using the coolant-through feature, verify coolant pressure is appropriate for the toolholder being used.
