The WALTER-TITEX 6618319 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN for heat and wear resistance, this bit features a 140-degree split point for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The overall length is 3.228 inches (82 mm), the cutting diameter is 0.189 inches, and the shank diameter is 0.236 inches. A whistle notch shank ensures positive drive and accurate concentricity in compatible chucks and collets. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and tool-room technicians working in CNC and manual drilling applications.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations where accurate depth control and chip evacuation matter. The two-flute spiral design with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio promotes efficient chip removal even in tougher alloys. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operations in production environments where heat buildup is a concern. The DC150 series targets applications in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking where superalloys and titanium are common workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with chucks or collets accepting a 0.236-inch shank. Rated for cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Part of the WALTER-TITEX DC150 series covering the 0.150 to 0.200 inch diameter range.
This bit is installed by machinists or tool-room personnel; ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Secure the whistle notch shank firmly in a compatible collet or chuck to the tool manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle and toolholder are set up to deliver coolant at the appropriate pressure and flow rate. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from improper handling or interrupted cuts at incorrect feeds and speeds.
