The WALTER-TITEX 6618297 is a jobber length drill bit engineered for demanding production drilling applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a TiAlN coating, this bit delivers extended tool life in abrasive and heat-generating materials. It measures 0.128 inches in diameter with an overall length of 2.6 inches and a flute length of 0.64 inches. The 140-degree split point geometry reduces thrust force and improves centering at entry. A whistle notch shank with a shank diameter of 0.236 inches provides positive retention in collet and chuck tooling. This bit is part of the DC150 series and is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in both manual and CNC drilling setups.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and titanium. It supports blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations where consistent hole quality across multiple workpiece layers is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and spiral flute geometry promote effective chip evacuation in deeper holes. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, making it well suited for high-speed production environments where heat management is critical. The DC150 series targets precision drilling in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking applications.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with collets or chucks that accept a 0.236-inch whistle notch shank. Suitable for workpiece materials coded K, N, P, and S per ISO material classification, corresponding to cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys including titanium. Part of the WALTER-TITEX DC150 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Seat the whistle notch shank fully in the collet or chuck and verify secure clamping before operation. Confirm that coolant-through supply lines are properly connected and flowing before running at full speed in production.
