The WALTER-TITEX 6618122 is a screw machine length solid carbide drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in demanding shop and field applications. It measures 0.313 inches (5/16 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 3.0 inches and a flute length of 0.939 inches. The 140-degree split point angle and three-spiral flutes deliver fast chip evacuation and accurate hole placement without a center punch. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance mechanics working with tight-tolerance bored holes in ferrous and cast materials.
The 6618122 belongs to the DC150-03-A0 series and is rated for universal tool performance across a range of workpiece materials including cast iron and steel. Its screw machine length profile makes it well suited for CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and turret lathes where stub-length rigidity reduces deflection. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so flood or mist cooling at the workpiece surface is recommended for sustained production runs.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes accepting a 0.313-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials of cast iron and steel per the DC150-03-A0 series specification. Meets DIN and ISO standards for drill geometry and dimensional tolerance (m7 diameter tolerance class).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance mechanic familiar with rotating cutting tool setups. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before loading or changing the bit. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth to prevent pullout under load. Because coolant-through is not supported, apply adequate external coolant or cutting fluid to manage heat when drilling steel or cast iron at production feed rates.
