The WALTER-TITEX 5154975 is a screw machine length cobalt vanadium high speed steel drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field environments. At 0.625 inches (5/8 inch) in diameter, it features a 130-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and a parabolic flute geometry that clears chips efficiently at higher feed rates. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and CNC holders. This is a two-flute, right-hand-cut bit built for machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-room professionals who work with hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
This bit is rated for use on cast iron, hardened materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel - a broad material range that suits it for general-purpose production drilling and repair work alike. The parabolic flute design with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deep hole drilling up to 1.700 inches in a single pass without retraction on most setups. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements, making it well suited for both manual drill presses and CNC machining centers. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for cobalt HSS tooling that will be reground in service.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct production bit in Series A1148 tooling setups. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools equipped to accept a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel.
Install in a properly sized chuck or collet and verify shank seating before operation. Power down and de-energize any CNC machine or lock out the drill press before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant on the workpiece when drilling stainless steel or hardened materials to extend tool life, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the split point for wear before each use; regrinding should be performed by a qualified tool grinder to maintain the 130-degree point geometry.
