The WALTER-TITEX 5153741 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. It measures 17/32 inches (0.5313 inches decimal) in diameter with a 4-7/32 inch overall length and features a 130-degree split point for precise, self-centering entry with reduced thrust. Constructed from vanadium high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit delivers durability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for both manual and CNC drilling operations. Machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is rated for use on aluminum alloy, aluminum silicon alloy, brass, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel. The screw machine length format - shorter overall length compared to a jobber bit - provides increased rigidity and reduced deflection, which is especially valuable when drilling in tight setups or on manual knee mills and drill presses. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling aluminum alloy, aluminum silicon alloy, brass, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel workpieces per Series A1148 application guidelines.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine spindle fully stopped and the power source locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before tightening. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to manage heat. Inspect the split point for chipping or wear before each use, as a damaged point will affect hole location accuracy and surface finish.
