The WALTER-TITEX 5153731 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It measures 0.339 inches in diameter (Letter size R) with an overall length of 3-5/16 inches and a flute length of 1-9/16 inches. Constructed from Cobalt Vanadium High Speed Steel, it delivers hardness and heat resistance needed for cutting through stainless steel, cast iron, and other tough workpieces. The bright, uncoated finish and split-point geometry at 130 degrees reduce walking and entry force. A parabolic flute design with web thinning improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting resistance throughout the drilling cycle. This bit is sold individually and is appropriate for use by machinists and trade professionals requiring precision and repeatability.
This drill bit is built for universal application across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. It performs in screw machine and general-purpose production drilling environments where shorter length-to-diameter ratios provide rigidity and accuracy. With a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 25.00 mm (approximately 0.984 inches), it is suited for shallow to moderate-depth holes where a straight-cylindrical shank and compact body keep runout to a minimum. This bit fits standard drill chucks and is commonly used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual screw machines.
Designed as a Series A1148 screw machine length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Suitable for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press and machining center operation. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck and verify concentricity before starting the cut. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling or adjusting workpiece fixturing. Do not exceed the rated drilling depth of 25.00 mm without retracting and clearing chips to prevent flute packing and bit breakage.
