The WALTER-TITEX 5062860 is a cobalt micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 1899 standards, this wire gauge size 86 drill measures 0.0102 inches (0.26 mm) in diameter with a 25 mm overall length. The M35 cobalt steel construction provides the heat and wear resistance needed when cutting titanium alloys and other abrasive workpiece materials. A 118-degree standard point angle combined with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry force and helps center the drill accurately on the workpiece. The spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in micro-diameter applications where clogging is a common failure point. A straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collets without modification.
This drill is suited for blind hole, through hole, and stack drilling operations in aerospace, precision manufacturing, and electronics applications. Primary workpiece materials include titanium alloys and materials classified under ISO material codes K, N, P, and S. Secondary applications cover glass and graphite workpieces (ISO codes M and O). The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 1.40 mm, keeping the tool within its designed operating range for stable, repeatable results. Licensed machinists, aerospace assemblers, and tool-and-die technicians are the typical installers and users of this bit.
Designed for use in blind hole, stack drilling, and through hole drilling operations on titanium alloy, glass, and graphite workpieces; fits standard straight-cylindrical collets and chucks accepting a 1.00 mm shank diameter.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a collet or drill chuck rated for micro-diameter tooling before starting the spindle. Verify spindle runout is within specification for sub-0.5 mm diameter tools, as excess runout accelerates breakage at this diameter. Operate within the maximum drilling depth of 1.40 mm per pass to prevent deflection or bit fracture. Retract the spindle and allow the tool to stop completely before measuring or repositioning the workpiece.
