The WALTER-TITEX 5060579 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. It measures 3/64 inches (0.0469 inches decimal) in diameter with a 1-1/2 inch overall length and a 5/8 inch flute length. The 130-degree split point promotes accurate self-centering on entry and reduces walking on hard surfaces. An oxide coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance. The parabolic flute geometry clears chips efficiently, which is critical when drilling into tough alloys at depth. This bit is suited for use by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working with precision tooling setups.
The 5060579 is built for blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations in materials including cast iron, steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The Series A1247 designation places it within a cobalt high-performance line intended for production and job-shop environments where tool life in difficult materials is a priority. Its straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification, making it a practical drop-in for bench drills, CNC machines, and hand-held power drill setups.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 3/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials coded K, M, N, P, and S, corresponding to cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material classification.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or technician familiar with cutting tool setups and speeds-and-feeds selection for cobalt tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling into finished workpieces. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace if chipping or dulling is observed, as worn cobalt bits in hard materials can cause tool breakage at small diameters.
