The WALTER-TITEX 5060497 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in production and maintenance environments. It carries a wire gauge size of 53 with a decimal diameter of 0.0595 inches and an overall length of 1-11/16 inches. The 130-degree split point reduces walking and entry force, while the parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. An oxide coating adds surface hardness and corrosion resistance. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and experienced metalworkers are the primary installers of this bit.
This drill bit is rated for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and superalloys including titanium. It is suited to both blind hole drilling and stack drilling operations. The parabolic flute with an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper hole applications relative to bit diameter. The web-thinned, tapered web design lowers axial thrust in hard materials. Series A1247 designation places it within the WALTER-TITEX high-performance cobalt line conforming to ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks and CNC drilling setups where wire size 53 small-diameter cobalt bits are specified for ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking operations.
Installation is performed by machinists or metalworking tradespeople using standard drill chucks or collet holders rated for the 0.0595 inch shank diameter. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout within acceptable limits for the application. De-energize and lock out any power tool or machine before changing bits. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 0.669 inches without clearing chips to prevent bit deflection or breakage in the blind hole.
