The WALTER-TITEX 5060488 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Sized to wire gauge 45 (0.0820 inches decimal), it features a 130-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers entry force on hard substrates. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation and allows deeper penetration without clogging. Overall length is 1-15/16 inches with a 15/16-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank. Right-hand cut, two-flute construction, and an oxide coating round out the design. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, superalloys, and titanium. It is suited for blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications where consistent hole quality and bit longevity under repeated cycling are required. The parabolic flute and web-thinned, tapered web geometry support an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio, allowing the bit to reach a maximum drilling depth of 0.787 inches (20.00 mm). It is part of the Series A1247 lineup, built to ANSI and ISO standards and designated to BS and DIN specifications.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement or direct-select cobalt drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0820-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, steel, superalloys, and titanium per Series A1247 application guidelines.
This bit is installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck on a drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld power drill. Ensure the machine is fully stopped and isolated from power before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant suited to the workpiece material to extend bit life, noting that this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining standards when setting spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material.
