The WALTER-TITEX 5058417 is a jobber-length twist drill bit engineered for precision drilling in ferrous materials. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit measures 0.55 mm (0.0217 inches) in diameter with a 15/16-inch (24.00 mm) overall length. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. With a two-flute spiral configuration and straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for controlled, repeatable drilling in production and maintenance environments. Licensed trades and toolroom machinists typically reach for this size for fine-tolerance work in cast iron and steel substrates.
The 5058417 is designed for blind-hole drilling and stack drilling applications in cast iron and steel. Its regular spiral flute type with an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance over the 0.2400-inch maximum drilling depth. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. This bit complies with ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards, making it suitable for both domestic and international production specifications requiring a general-purpose, high-performance micro-diameter drill.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces. Suitable for blind-hole and stack drilling operations requiring a 0.55 mm jobber-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or maintenance trades using a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with an appropriately sized collet or chuck. Ensure the workpiece is secured before drilling and that spindle speed is set appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter — micro-diameter bits are brittle and sensitive to side-loading. Do not use coolant-through methods as this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edge before each use; oxide-coated HSS bits should be replaced rather than reground when the edge is compromised.
