The WALTER-TITEX 5058412 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal and cast iron applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with an oxide coating, this bit runs a 118-degree standard point angle and a two-flute spiral configuration. It measures 0.0197 inches in diameter (0.5 mm) with an overall length of 0.859 inches (22 mm). The web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation at small diameters. Straight-cylindrical shank diameter matches the drill diameter at 0.0197 inches, making it compatible with standard collets and drill chucks. Rated as a high-performance, general-purpose drill under ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards.
This bit is suited for blind-hole drilling and stack drilling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. It carries a flute-to-diameter ratio of 8xD and a maximum drilling depth of 0.205 inches (5.20 mm). The Series A1211 designation places it within WALTER-TITEX's small-diameter jobber range. Typical use cases include precision metalworking shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance environments where repeatable small-hole accuracy is required. Right-hand cut and regular spiral type make it a straightforward drop-in for standard drill press or CNC spindle setups.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces. Suitable for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill equipment fitted with collets or chucks accepting a 0.0197-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Application codes K and P cover cast iron and steel material groups respectively.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified trade personnel familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before beginning any drilling operation to prevent bit deflection or breakage at this diameter. Always reduce spindle speed and feed rate appropriately for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Discontinue use if the bit shows signs of chipping, dulling, or runout, as small-diameter HSS bits are susceptible to breakage under side loading.
