The WALTER-TITEX 5057241 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from cobalt and vanadium high speed steel, this bit delivers elevated heat resistance and edge retention when cutting through tough materials. It features a 130-degree split point, a parabolic flute geometry, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and promotes efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. At 3-1/8 inches overall length with a 1-7/16-inch flute length, this is a compact, stub-style bit suited for close-quarters drilling setups where a jobber-length bit would be impractical.
This bit is rated for universal tool performance and is intended for use on cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The Series A1148 designation places it within a product line engineered for consistent dimensional accuracy, with a diameter tolerance of -0.00087 to 0.00000 inches. Maximum drilling depth is 0.9000 inches. It is appropriate for use in machine shops, maintenance shops, and field fabrication environments where precision hole quality in difficult workpiece materials is required. Installation and use by experienced machinists or trade professionals familiar with proper feed and speed selection is recommended.
Designed for use in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals. Fits standard straight-shank drill chucks. Conforms to DIN, ISO, and BS specification designations for screw machine length drill bits.
This bit is intended for use by machinists and trade professionals operating drill presses, CNC machines, or hand drills with proper chuck capacity. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Select appropriate feed rate and spindle speed for the workpiece material to prevent work hardening, especially in stainless steel. No coolant-through capability; use an appropriate cutting fluid applied externally when drilling hard or stainless materials.
