The WALTER-TITEX 5057180 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from Cobalt Vanadium High Speed Steel, this bit handles cast iron, stainless steel, hard materials, and non-ferrous metals without coating degradation. The 130-degree split point reduces walking and breakthrough burr, while the parabolic flute geometry promotes fast chip evacuation. At 2-1/16 inches overall length with a 25/32-inch flute length, this is a stub-length configuration suited for rigid setups in drill presses, CNC machines, and screw machine applications. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit fits into standard straight-cylindrical shank chucks and is well suited for production drilling environments where consistent hole quality across mixed material types is required. The parabolic flute with a 3xD ratio supports drilling depths up to 0.6000 inches without packing chips. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust load at the point, making it effective in stainless steel and cast iron where heat buildup and work hardening are concerns. It conforms to DIN, ISO, and BS specification designations, making it appropriate for shops that work to metric or inch-standard tolerances.
Designed as a screw machine length drill bit in Series A1148, suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank tool with a 0.1378-inch diameter. Compatible with cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces.
This bit should be installed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are powered down and fully stopped before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or keyless chuck to secure the straight shank without runout. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 0.6000 inches per pass, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for stainless steel or hard material applications even though this bit does not have through-coolant capability.
