The WALTER SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES 15L463 is a Type 29 depressed center grinding wheel built for aggressive material removal on angle grinders. It measures 4.5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole and carries a resinoid bond with 36-grit aluminum oxide abrasive. The A36-X-FLEX specification indicates a flexible, high-performance bond matrix that allows the wheel to conform slightly under load, reducing gouging and improving surface contact. Rated to 13,300 RPM maximum, it suits most 4.5 inch angle grinders used in metal fabrication, structural work, and maintenance trades. The black resinoid-bonded construction handles heat and vibration typical of sustained grinding passes.
This wheel is designed for grinding aluminum, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. It is a practical choice for fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians who need a single wheel capable of crossing material types on a job site. The Type 29 geometry - a conical depressed-center profile - provides a low angle of attack that improves surface coverage compared to a flat Type 1 wheel, making it well suited for weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning on flat and contoured workpieces.
Compatible with angle grinders accepting a 4.5 inch diameter, 7/8 inch arbor grinding wheel. Rated for use on aluminum, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel per manufacturer material application data.
Installation and wheel changes must be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out and tagged per applicable safety procedures. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting - never use a damaged wheel. Ensure the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM maximum marked on the wheel, and always use the guard provided with the tool. Wheel mounting and angle grinder use in occupational settings is subject to ANSI B7.1 and OSHA 1910.215 requirements.
