The WALTER SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES 15F156 is a shank-mounted flap wheel designed for precision grinding, blending, and finishing on metal surfaces. Built around an aluminum oxide abrasive cloth construction, it delivers consistent stock removal at a medium grade 80 grit rating. The 1/4-inch shank mounts directly into standard rotary tools, die grinders, bench grinders, and straight-shaft machines. Rated to 25,000 RPM, this flap wheel handles aggressive material removal and surface prep on aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel. Fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians use it for deburring weld seams, blending transitions, and prepping surfaces before coating or inspection.
This flap wheel is suited for both shop and field metalworking applications where controlled surface finishing is required. The 1-inch diameter and 1-inch face width make it effective in tight spaces, inside bores, and along contoured surfaces that flat discs cannot reach. Its cloth backing and coated abrasive construction allow the wheel to conform to irregular geometries while maintaining consistent cut. Typical applications include surface preparation on fabricated steel components, finishing stainless steel tubing, and deburring aluminum extrusions or castings.
Designed for use with bench grinders and straight-shaft rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch shank. Suitable for grinding, blending, and finishing operations on aluminum, stainless steel, and steel workpieces.
This wheel is installed by inserting the 1/4-inch shank into the collet or chuck of a compatible rotary tool and securing it according to the tool manufacturer's specifications. Always confirm the tool's maximum RPM rating meets or exceeds 25,000 RPM before use. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive wheels. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and do not operate a cracked or deformed flap wheel.
