The WALTER SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES 13H414 is a knotted wire cup brush designed for aggressive surface conditioning, weld cleaning, and rust or scale removal on metal workpieces. The brush features 0.015-inch diameter stainless steel wire twisted into knotted fill, which delivers greater impact force and cutting action compared to crimped-wire designs. At 4 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor, it mounts directly to angle grinders commonly used in fabrication, welding, and industrial maintenance applications. The 13H414 is rated to a maximum of 20,000 RPM, accommodating most right-angle grinder speeds encountered in the field. Weight is 1.5 pounds.
This cup brush is suited for professional use in metal fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipe welding preparation, and heavy equipment maintenance. Typical applications include pre-weld joint cleaning, post-weld spatter and slag removal, surface oxide removal, and paint or coating stripping on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Because the fill material is stainless steel, it is appropriate for use on stainless steel base materials where cross-contamination from carbon steel wire must be avoided. Licensed tradespeople in welding, pipefitting, and industrial maintenance are the primary installers and users of this tool.
Designed for use with angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Confirm the grinder's rated no-load RPM does not exceed 20,000 RPM before mounting.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with abrasive wheel and wire brush safety requirements. Always power down and disconnect or de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing the cup brush. Verify the grinder's spindle speed rating does not exceed the brush's 20,000 RPM maximum; operating above the rated speed is a safety hazard. Eye protection, face shield, and appropriate PPE are required during operation, and the work area should be clear of bystanders given the possibility of wire ejection from knotted wire brushes.
