The WALTER SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES 13F354 is a knotted carbon steel cup brush designed for aggressive surface preparation on metal workpieces. The 3-inch diameter single-row construction delivers concentrated scrubbing action suited for weld cleaning, rust removal, mill scale removal, and paint stripping. Knotted wire fill provides greater stiffness and cutting action compared to crimped wire, making it the right choice for heavy-scale removal and surface profiling. The brush spins up to 12000 RPM and mounts via a standard 5/8-11 threaded arbor. Wire diameter is 0.020 inches. At 0.71 pounds, the brush is compact enough for standard angle grinder use without adding significant head weight.
This cup brush is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipeline maintenance, and heavy manufacturing environments where surface condition is critical before coating or welding. Metalworkers, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance mechanics reach for knotted cup brushes when a crimped wire brush lacks the aggression the job requires. Typical applications include preparing weld joints, removing oxidation from ferrous metal, and conditioning surfaces before primer application. The threaded arbor mount suits most 4-inch to 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 spindle.
Designed for use with angle grinders and die grinders fitted with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Verify tool RPM rating meets or exceeds 12000 RPM before mounting.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive wheel safety. Always confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the brush maximum rated RPM of 12000 before use. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before mounting or removing the brush. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield, safety glasses, and gloves when operating wire cup brushes, as wire filaments can break free during use.
