The WALTER SURFACE TECHNOLOGIES 01V008 is a cylinder ball nose carbide bur designed for material removal, deburring, and shaping operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Built to industry specification SC-5, this bur features an Aluma Cut tooth style that clears chips efficiently and reduces loading when working softer materials. The 1/2-inch cutting diameter and 1-inch length of cut make it well suited for medium-scale cavity work, port matching, and edge blending. The 1/4-inch shank fits standard die grinders and rotary tools commonly found in fabrication, aerospace, and metal finishing shops. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and metalworking professionals are the primary users.
This bur is intended for use on aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and similar soft-to-medium-hardness materials where chip packing and smearing are common concerns with standard cut burs. The Aluma Cut geometry addresses that directly by providing wider flute spacing that keeps the cutting face clear under load. It is appropriate for both bench-mounted rotary tools and handheld pneumatic or electric die grinders in shop and field fabrication environments. Maximum operating speed is rated at 50,000 RPM, which places it in the range of high-speed pneumatic die grinders.
Designed for use with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch shank collet. Suitable for material applications involving aluminum and non-ferrous metals per the SC-5 industry specification.
Installation is performed by machinists or metalworking technicians using a standard die grinder with a 1/4-inch collet. Ensure the tool is fully de-energized and the collet is properly torqued before operation. Never exceed the rated maximum RPM of 50,000. Eye protection and appropriate PPE should be used in accordance with shop safety standards when operating any rotary bur.
