The WALTER-PROTOTYP 8417750 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and general steel applications. It features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.1900 inch corner radius, and 5 flutes with a 38-degree helix angle for aggressive chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The nACRo (WJ30EN) coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures common in hard-material machining. This tool is single-end, centercutting, and configured for both roughing and finishing operations. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for full-slot and peripheral milling in tight-tolerance applications involving superalloys and titanium as the primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in stainless steel and carbon steel. The extended reach configuration, with a 4.3071 inch reach length and 3-1/4 inch length of cut, allows access to deep pockets and stepped features where standard-reach tools cannot be used. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures consistent runout in standard collet and hydraulic chuck toolholding systems. It is part of the MA377.A-5-R series.
Designed for use with standard 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting an h6-tolerance shank. Primary workpiece material is superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S); secondary materials include stainless steel (M) and steel (P).
This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque and runout verification. Always confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against the MA377.A-5-R series cutting data recommendations before operation. Inspect the shank and collet bore for contamination or damage before seating the tool. Extended-reach tools are more sensitive to vibration; verify setup rigidity and minimize overhang beyond the specified reach length.
