The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7569318 is a spiral point tap designed for right-hand through-hole threading in a 7/16-14 UNC thread form. It is manufactured from high-speed steel with powder metallurgy enhancement (HSS-E-PM) and finished with a THL coating to improve wear resistance and reduce friction during cutting. The tap features a plug chamfer and 3 flutes, producing a 2B class of fit. With an overall length of 3.937 inches and a thread length of 0.787 inches, this tap is suited for production threading operations where tool life and consistent thread quality are priorities.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading applications in a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It is commonly used in machining centers, CNC tapping operations, and manual drilling setups where a reliable plug-chamfer entry and positive chip ejection are required. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it well suited for unobstructed through-holes rather than blind bores.
Designed for through-hole threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Part of the WALTER-PROTOTYP Series AEP2226002. Compatible with standard tap holders and floating tap collets accepting a 0.323-inch shank diameter.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tap size before engaging the cut. Secure the tap in a properly sized tap holder or collet to prevent runout. Ensure the through-hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter before threading to avoid overloading the tool.
