The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7569269 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in steel and stainless steel workpieces. It produces a 1/4-20 UNC thread with a 2BX class of fit, making it suitable for close-tolerance tapping applications where a tighter fit is required. The tap is manufactured from powdered metal and coated with TiAlN, a finish that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The three right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips upward out of the hole, which is the correct geometry for blind-hole tapping. This tap is used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working with ferrous materials.
The 7569269 is suited for tapping blind holes in steel and stainless steel in production and job-shop environments. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threads to be cut closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug or taper chamfer permits, while still providing more lead-in than a full bottoming chamfer. This makes it a practical choice when thread depth is critical and hole depth is limited. It belongs to the TC142 series and carries a 1/4-20 UNC thread specification, which is one of the most common unified coarse thread sizes in general mechanical assembly.
Designed for tapping steel and stainless steel workpieces. Primary workpiece material codes P and M confirm suitability for carbon and alloy steels as well as austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. Part of the WALTER-PROTOTYP TC142 series.
This tap should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping operations on manual or CNC machine tools. Before tapping, ensure the spindle is powered down and the workpiece is securely fixtured. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous materials to reduce heat and friction at the cutting edge. Do not reverse-run the tap before it has completed its cutting stroke, and confirm that the pre-drilled hole diameter matches the recommended tap drill size for 1/4-20 UNC before beginning the operation.
