The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7557167 is a spiral point tap designed for right-hand through-hole threading in a 3/4-10 UNC configuration. Built from High-Speed Steel-E (HSS-E) and finished with a TiAlN coating, it delivers elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding production environments. The plug chamfer geometry distributes cutting load across the leading threads, making it well suited for through-hole applications where chips are pushed forward and cleared ahead of the tap. With 4 flutes, a 4.921-inch overall length, and a 1.181-inch thread length, this tap is sized for general industrial and precision machining work. It carries a 2B class of fit, which is the standard tolerance for most commercial threaded fastener assemblies.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading operations in materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It is used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping setups where a plug chamfer entry and forward chip ejection are appropriate for the workpiece and fixturing. The TC217 series is engineered for production-volume threading where coating durability and dimensional consistency across the run matter. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shops or manufacturing facilities are the primary users of this tap.
Designed for through-hole threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for use in standard 3/4-10 UNC threaded assemblies requiring a 2B class of fit tolerance.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist following standard tapping procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is aligned with the hole before engaging the tap. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material even though coolant-through is not required; dry tapping in steel or stainless steel will accelerate wear. Follow shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting spindle speed and feed rate for the tap diameter and material.
