The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7496811 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Built to Series MD133 specifications, it features a 0.4 mm corner radius, five helical flutes, and a TiAlN/TiAl PVD coating that supports both roughing and finishing operations. The 8 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 34 mm length of cut and an extended reach of 44 mm, making it well suited for deeper cavity work where tool deflection and rigidity are critical concerns. A chipbreaker geometry aids chip evacuation during high-load cuts.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling operations across general metalworking, aerospace, die-and-mold, and precision manufacturing environments. Its extended-reach design addresses applications where standard-length tools cannot access the full depth of a feature. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional vertical and horizontal machining center setups. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders sized for 8 mm bore collets and milling chucks. The MD133 series is rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium as primary workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium (material codes P, M, K, N, S). Secondary workpiece material is cast iron (code K). Material grade WJ30RD.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change sequence is complete before handling the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the collet or milling chuck and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on a five-flute tool and degrades surface finish.
