The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7270271 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the MD133 series platform, this single-end tool features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and five helical flutes with a 35-degree helix angle. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-resistant materials. The extra-long geometry, with a 3.5 inch overall length and a 1-3/8 inch length of cut, supports extended reach applications where standard-length tools cannot reach the workpiece. This end mill is used by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is rated for stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, making it well suited for aerospace, medical device, and precision manufacturing applications. The chipbreaker geometry and normal pitch configuration support both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3/8 inch in diameter with an h6 tolerance, and the cutting diameter holds an h10 tolerance. The 1.937 inch reach length accommodates deep-cavity and shoulder milling scenarios where clearance is a factor. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard on this configuration.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary application is stainless steel. Part of the WALTER-PROTOTYP MD133 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm toolholder bore compatibility with the 3/8 inch shank diameter and verify runout after clamping before beginning a cut. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for plunge entry. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and WALTER-PROTOTYP MD133 series speed and feed documentation for proper cutting parameters before use.
