The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7254995 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and hard materials. Running a 5 mm diameter with a 0.5 mm corner radius and a 13 mm length of cut, this three-flute tool operates as a single-end, centercutting end mill with a right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. The TiAlSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding steel applications. The helical flute geometry and coarse pitch support both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing changeovers on the shop floor. A licensed machinist or CNC setup technician handles installation and toolpath programming for this type of end mill.
The 7254995 fits into a straight-cylindrical toolholder at a 6 mm shank diameter with an h6 shank tolerance, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and precision toolholders used in CNC machining centers. The extended reach geometry includes a 21 mm reach length, useful for accessing deeper features without interference. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials under ISO material codes P and H. Secondary workpiece material is steel. The MC388 series targets fine-grain carbide grade construction for consistent performance in production environments.
Designed for use with standard collet-style or precision toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary applications are in steel and hard materials (ISO codes P and H) on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before loading or removing the tool from the toolholder. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
