The WALTER-PROTOTYP 7254525 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance cutting in hard materials. Built on the MC187 series platform, it features a 4 mm cutting diameter with a 0.5 mm corner radius and four right-hand helical flutes at a 50-degree helix angle. The tool carries a TiAlSiN PVD coating, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life during aggressive cuts in hardened steels and other hard workpiece materials. At 57 mm overall length with an 11 mm length of cut and a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard toolholders used in precision CNC milling operations. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and tooling technicians.
This end mill is designed for both roughing and finishing operations in hard materials, designated under the H material grade classification. The extended reach geometry, with a 21 mm reach length, makes it suitable for applications requiring access to deeper features or stepped profiles. The single-end, non-centercutting design means it is optimized for side milling, profiling, and contouring passes rather than plunge cuts. It is well suited for CNC machining centers running tight-tolerance work in die and mold, aerospace, and general precision metalworking environments where hard material grades are standard.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for machining hard materials (material code H) in precision milling applications. Part of the Walter Prototyp MC187 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention system to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production cycle, as runout beyond acceptable limits will accelerate edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling.
