The WALTER-PROTOTYP 6814323 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill head designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the MC251 series, it features a 0.236 inch (6.00 mm) mill diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a TiAlN PVD coating applied under the WK40RC material grade designation. The variable helix flute geometry and center-cutting capability support both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing tool changes and cycle time. This end mill head is engineered for use with compatible straight-cylindrical toolholders and is suited for shops running tight-tolerance work on difficult materials.
This tool is rated primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and secondarily for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), making it well-suited for aerospace, medical, and industrial component machining. The extended reach design, with a 21.00 mm reach length and 57.00 mm overall length, allows access to deep features and pockets where standard-length tools cannot reach. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. The normal pitch and four-flute configuration balance chip evacuation with surface finish quality across a range of cutting conditions.
Designed for use with compatible straight-cylindrical toolholders. Manufacturer catalog number MC251-06.0-A4B050 identifies this head within the MC251-A-4-B-R series. Confirm toolholder bore and clamping system compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the toolholder bore and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating the end mill head. Torque clamping screws or collet nuts to toolholder manufacturer specifications only - do not use field-estimated values. Verify runout with a dial indicator after assembly before engaging the workpiece, particularly given the tight h9 and h5 diameter tolerances specified for this tool.
