The WALTER-PROTOTYP 6579418 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. The cutting diameter is 3.99 mm with a 1.00 mm corner radius and a length of cut of 11.00 mm. A TiAlN PVD coating provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The tool runs single-end, center-cutting, with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing operations. It belongs to WALTER-PROTOTYP Series MC326 and features an extended-reach geometry with a high helix style on a straight-cylindrical shank.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling applications where long-reach access to features is required. The extended reach geometry and reduced neck diameter allow the tool to enter deep pockets and narrow slots without interference. It is appropriate for job shops and production environments machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. The coarse pitch and high helix configuration support effective chip evacuation in both roughing and finishing passes. The tool mounts in standard toolholders sized for a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium as indicated by WALTER-PROTOTYP material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Inspect the cutting edges and corner radius for chips or wear before each use. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and balance requirements at operating speed.
