Product Description

The WALTER-PROTOTYP 6579372 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to handle both roughing and finishing operations, this single-end, centercutting tool features a 8 mm cutting diameter, a 0.16 mm (0.006 inches) corner radius, and a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a high helix style promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. With an extended reach configuration and stub length type, it fits tight tolerances in a straight-cylindrical toolholder setup.

This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium - primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. Secondary materials include hard material and additional stainless and cast iron grades. It fits into standard straight-cylindrical toolholders and is part of the Walter MC726 series, intended for production machining in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking shops. The normal pitch and variable-index-free geometry make it a reliable choice for consistent programmed toolpaths in CNC milling applications.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction with TiAlN PVD coating for heat and wear resistance
  • 0.16 mm corner radius protects the cutting edge and improves corner finish on workpieces
  • 4-flute, right-hand cutting, high helix spiral geometry for roughing and finishing in one tool
  • Centercutting design allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole
  • Extended reach configuration with straight-cylindrical shank fits standard CNC toolholders
  • Mill diameter tolerance e8 and shank diameter tolerance h5 for precise toolholder fitment

Compatibility

Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders. Compatible with machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. Part of the Walter MC726 series.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing tooling. Verify toolholder bore size matches the 8 mm shank diameter and confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for pull-out prevention.
