The WALTER-PROTOTYP 6579286 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding milling applications. With a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 50-degree helix angle, it delivers aggressive chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The TiAlN coating adds heat resistance and wear life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge entry as well as conventional profiling and slotting. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring tight-tolerance work.
This end mill fits residential and industrial machine shop environments where high-performance carbide tooling is required. It is appropriate for milling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials in production or prototype cutting scenarios. The MC326 series designation identifies it within the WALTER-PROTOTYP tooling family. The straight-cylindrical shank with h5 tolerance provides a secure, low-runout fit in standard collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic tool holders. The long-length classification gives added reach for deeper pockets or stepped features without requiring an extended-reach variant.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling solution for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic holders with h5-tolerance shank clearance.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the tool holder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out under load. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant strategy appropriate to the workpiece material.
