The WALTER-PROTOTYP 6579281 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. It carries a 0.08-inch corner radius, a 3/8-inch milling diameter, and a 7/8-inch length of cut. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. With 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a high-helix geometry, this end mill supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. It is centercutting and runs from a straight cylindrical shank for use in standard toolholders.
This end mill is suited for vertical and horizontal machining center applications where corner radius geometry is needed to reduce stress concentrations at part features. It fits production environments cutting P, M, K, and S workpiece material classes - steel, stainless, cast iron, and superalloys. The extended-reach configuration, with a reach length of approximately 1.437 inches, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring a longer overall-length tool. It is a single-end design intended for use in standard collet or shrink-fit toolholders on CNC mills and machining centers.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium (material codes P, M, K, S). Secondary workpiece materials include cast iron, hard materials, and stainless steel. Part of the Walter-Prototyp MC326 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank in a compatible toolholder and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path is programmed before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the rated length of cut or reach specifications for the application, as overextension increases deflection risk.
