The WALTER-PROTOTYP 5603128 is a metric extension tap designed for threading M12 x 1.75 holes in production and toolroom environments. Built from powdered metal with a TiCN coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and surface hardness compared to standard high-speed steel taps. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. At 8.661 inches overall length, it provides reach in deep or obstructed bore locations. The 6HX class of fit produces a tight-tolerance metric thread suited to precision assemblies. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tool.
